Education

I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT) in the state of Utah. I received my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University in Northwest Indiana. I am currently finishing my doctorate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Utah State University.

Through my time practicing, I have completed several additional certifications to be able to offer evidence-based treatment for my clients. I am Gottman level 2 certified, a therapy specifically for strengthening couples. For working with trauma specifically I am certified in accelerated resolution therapy, an eye-movement based technique for helping individuals process and overcome trauma. Additionally, I am certified in trauma focused- cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT).

Experience

I have worked in a variety of settings in several geographic locations including Chicago, Logan and St. George Utah. My work has centered on providing couples therapy and adolescents and their parents. I work with couples and adolescents on a variety of issues including pre-marital, parenting, life transitions, sexual issues, and many others. A large portion of my work though has focused on working with those who struggle with problematic pornography use, blended families, and high-conflict couples. Additionally, I have lots of experience in working with women and ADHD.

Research & Writing

I believe in providing evidence -based therapy for my clients. Meaning what we do in the therapy room is back by good research! My research has primarily centered teaching and training new therapists, building a strong relationship between therapists and clients, and on pornography use and how it impacts the couple relationship. As my research has shown, I am committed to providing the best therapy to clients, but an essential part of that is building a strong relationship. Research has shown that a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the largest predictors of successful therapy outcomes. Please reach out and schedule a 15 minute phone consultation to make sure that we are a good fit for one another!

On a more personal note…

I first knew I wanted to become a therapist after attending therapy myself and having worked with people to overcome challenges they had faced for years. Seeing people change and live happier lives has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. The fact that I get to do that for my job is even better!

While I may live in smaller towns now, I consider myself a city girl! I love exploring new places and restaurants and never ran out living in or near large cities. I was raised in the suburbs of Detroit but have lived in many parts of the country including southeast Idaho, Chicago, Logan, Utah and now St. George, Utah.

I love the outdoors and sunshine, so I was very excited to live in this area! I love hiking and road biking and get to do that nearly every day of the year here. In my down time you will often find me cooking a new recipe, visiting with family and friends, planning my next trip, or watching an NHL game (Go Red Wings!).
